]]>San Diego Comic-Con, known by us nerds in the biz as SDCC, has always been an event that excites pop culture enthusiasts and collectors alike. One of the highlights of SDCC is the exclusive merchandise, and Funko has consistently delivered with their highly sought-after Pop! vinyl figures. Funko recently revealed that they'd be doubling their presence at Comic Con this year, which has left fans more excited than ever to see what plethora of goodies will be on offer for this year's summer convention.
If you're like us, and nowhere near the excitement in the states (we feel ya) then you'll no doubt be wondering how many of these will be made available to us down under, too. Well, we've got exciting news, collectors, because Funko have just unveiled their line-up of SDCC exclusives for 2023, and fans are buzzing with excitement! Let's take a closer look at some of the incredible Funko exclusives that will be gracing the convention this year, and which goodies we may hopefully be able to get our hands on overseas.

"Here’s some of what to expect at Funkoville at San Diego Comic-Con 2023," Funko announced on their blog and socials between a staggered posting schedule from late last week to early this week. "Along with the... selection of convention exclusive collectibles, there will be a variety of mainline items to snag as well. We won’t ruin the surprise. We just know you’re going to love them!" [x]
Keep up with the full list of reveals on Funko's socials and the Ozzie Collectables Facebook page.
As always, we can't confirm exactly what will be made available to us until the time of the drop. To be honest, the mystery is half the fun, and as we get closer and closer to the big day we'd like to remind you all that you can keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram pages for the official time/date of the drop, an announcement that typically takes place in the weeks leading up to the convention weekend. This year, the bulk of SDCC celebrations are happening between Friday July 21st and Sunday July 23rd, so it's very likely the online exclusives drop will occur during this time. If previous years are any indication, we may see yet another late-night online drop for us Aussies!
Funko's SDCC exclusives for 2023 are poised to be a hit among collectors and fans alike. It's exciting to see, as many fans have had strong opinions on the line-ups of the last few years past. From Marvel and DC Comics to Disney and Star Wars, it looks like there's something for everyone in this exciting line-up. Whether you're a dedicated Funko collector or simply a fan of these popular franchises, these exclusives offer a unique opportunity to add a touch of magic and nostalgia to your collection.
Stay tuned for more updates as SDCC 2023 approaches, and make sure to mark your calendars to snag these limited-edition Funko Pops! before they disappear into the hands of avid collectors.

]]>Since then, Funko have released a Pop! Moment featuring Eddie and Dustin fighting off Demobats, one of the most iconic scenes from the last season. Not as popular as the first release, this was still a hit with collectors, although it's currently still available for pre-order from most retailers for $119.99 AUD. The 4" standalone Eddie that's been so popular has still been trickling out in a few releases, but only for collectors who were lucky enough to get their orders in while sites like Ozzie Collectables were still taking pre-orders.
So, will Funko make another Eddie Munson Pop Vinyl figure? At this time, there is no official word from Funko on whether or not they will be producing another run of the figure. However, Funko has been known to release variants of popular figures, which means that there is a possibility of a new Eddie Munson figure being released in the future.
It's also worth noting that Funko regularly releases figures based on new seasons of popular TV shows, so if "Stranger Things" continues to be a hit with viewers, especially with its last season around the corner, it's possible that a new Eddie Munson figure could be released to coincide with the show's next season. This is an especially compelling possibility if you're a believer in a few popular fan theories floating around regarding Eddie's fate, which seemed pretty clear at the end of season four... or did it?
Another factor to consider is the popularity of Stranger Things among Funko collectors. The show has a dedicated fan following, and Funko may be interested in releasing more figures based on the show's characters to capitalize on that popularity. If there is enough demand for a new Eddie Munson figure, Funko may be more likely to produce one.
In conclusion, while there is no official word on whether or not Funko will be making another Eddie Munson Pop Vinyl figure, there is still hope for fans who missed out on the initial release. Keep an eye out for new releases and stay tuned to Ozzie's social media channels for any announcements about a new Eddie Munson figure.

Hold onto your wallets.
The Emerald City Comic Con team announced early on in 2021 that they would not be holding their annual Washington Comic Con in March - instead, it was announced that the in-person event would be moved to December, to give Covid some time to chill out and con-hoppers the adequate time to get vaccinated. Instead, Funko released their prepared exclusives as part of a virtual event, a trend that many collectors have gotten used to in the past few years.
When NYCC, another virtual release drop, happened unexpectedly late in October, some whispers finally started going around about a possible late, end of year, last-minute exclusives drop. Many people aptly pointed out that a few predicted Fall Convention exclusives were notably absent from Funko's last-minute announced line-up. Would these elusive products be released some time later? Or were they destined to disappear, their memory a mere distant dream in collectors' minds?
A week ago, we finally got our answer.

Funko announced on their blog on the 19th of November that they'd be hosting yet another drop of releases as part of Festival of Fun at ECCC from the 2nd until the 5th of December. "Welcome to the age of hybrid events!" they announced via the article. "Funko is elated to announce that we’ll be hosting a booth at Emerald City Comic Con’s in-person event in late 2021."
So what does that mean for those of us who aren't in Seattle?
It means buckle up: more exclusives are coming.
Funko announced a total of 19 new exclusives on their blog, a handful of which will be available to international retailers like Ozzie Collectables. In case you missed the social media storm, you can check out the list of releases here.
As expected, quite a few of the mysterious missing NYCC releases appear to be present in the line-up. There was some previous buzz about stickers, and whether some of these ECCC releases might actually have the Fall Convention exclusive stickers on their boxes due to the last-minute change in release plans from October to December.
As always, Ozzie cannot confirm exactly which exclusives will be available to us until the time of the drop, but we can tell you this: be prepared! Make sure you're ready and on our site at the time of the drop, which is happening yet again in the dead of night. The good news? It's on a weekend, so you won't be crawling to the office and siphoning espresso just to keep your eyes open the next day. You will, however, be taking home a nice new bunch of exclusives, the majority of which will not be privy to the same delays we saw in October. Phew!
This year, the ECCC Festival of Fun December drop is happening on Ozzie Collectables from 1am AEDT (Melbourne) time on Saturday the 4th of December. You can read the FAQ here.

]]>The con is in less than 2 days.
Anxiety started permeating the collectables community a little over a month ago, when Funko announced that they once again would not be attending New York Comic Con. Instead, they announced via their blog on the 2nd of September that a virtual con would take place on their site (and shared retailer's sites) instead, and urged prospective collectors to keep an eye out in the coming weeks. Then... nothing. Until yesterday, that is.
Hype started building about a week ago, when Ozzie Collectables finally posted a teaser for the date and time details of the upcoming convention. At this stage, about a week from the official con date, Funko had still yet to release the official details of the drop and its possible line-up.

But despite the mystery surrounding the elusive convention, fans finally saw some reprieve yesterday when Funko unveiled their list of exclusives. You can take a look by visiting their Facebook and Instagram pages, or their official blog.
It may have come as a surprise that the announcements, which usually take place in the weeks preceding convention events, happened so late this year. But many are choosing to see this as a fun, exciting alternative to the usual culture surrounding these conventions.
It's been a tough few years for everyone, collectors included. The excitement of finally waking up to some good news was a much needed change for many of us, and with NYCC only a few days away, I think I speak for many when I say: bring it on!
As well as the upcoming exclusive releases, we're also now able to confirm the date and time of the drop as it will be available to Aussie retailers.
This year, the Funko Virtual Con for NYCC Fall Convention Exclusives will take place on Ozzie Collectables on Saturday, the 9th of October as 12:00 AM AEDT. That's Melbourne time: as soon as the clock strikes midnight, the Comic Con drop will begin, so make sure you're ready and waiting on dpltoys.com!
Disclaimer: as always, Ozzie Collectables cannot provide information about specific releases, including which items will be available to us, until the time of the event. Make sure you're there bright and early (or, er, late) so you don't miss out.

For those of us still mentally stuck somewhere around March 2020, the news that we're more than halfway to Halloween 2021 might come as a shock. Not for the Funko team, though! They've already been hard at work preparing for this year's Funkoween festivities, including a live stream that's set to include announcements regarding more than forty new series releases, which will kick off later today.
What is Funkoween?
For four days, running from May 24th until May 28th, the Funko team will announce on social media and via FunTV their plans for forty upcoming new release series, typically in the vein of a spooky theme. We're talking retro scares, horror lines, Nightmare Before Christmas, and more. It's like the perfect combination of a virtual Comic Con and Halloween event - and it takes place in May, proving that for some, the spooky festivities never really have to end.
What's this I hear about masks?!
Yep, you read that right. Among other sneak peaks Funko have posted to their social media pages over the last few days, one such image appears to show a strap clearly labelled as 'Pop Masks.' If, like me, your first thought turned out to be something related to the pandemic that shall not be named, in the hopes that this announcement pertained to a new, practical line of face masks... it seems we're out of luck. Take a look at the preview image yourself.

Doesn't exactly look like it's gonna be a face mask! We at Ozzie can't say we're too disappointed, though. It's true that Funatics come in all shapes, sizes, and ages, and the thought of seeing our littlest collectors running around on All Hallow's Eve with a giant Pop! head mask is pretty darn cute!
Plus, the preview seems to suggest a Jack Skellington mask in our future, which could be a great addition to a Disney collection. What do you think? Does this look like a face mask, or a Halloween mask to you? And which would you prefer?
Check out the seven other sneak peaks Funko have posted so far:

Any guesses?

]]>Once again, in light of the ongoing virus situation, this will be a virtual event. Funko had this to say about the upcoming con: "Though we are not yet able to come together in the convention center, Funko brings Funatics another Funko Virtual Con celebration! As always, we want to keep the convention spirit alive so we will be bringing you Emerald City Comic Con® virtually with Funko's fifth virtual con! Funko Virtual Con Spring 2021 will take place March 1st, 2021 – March 5th, 2021! The week will be filled with giveaways, special guests, and more!"
Let's take a look at the exclusive products they've announced.

The caption reads, "What figure is this for our Spring Convention? Take a guess!"
It will be interesting to see what the company has in store for the first of this year's official Comic Con exclusives. After a year of disappointing cancellations on face-to-face socialising, including many beloved conventions, fans are eager for a pick-me-up. Hopefully this virtual event will have some great exclusives!

]]>This news came as no surprise to many collectors, who have quickly adapted over the past year to expect exciting new alternatives to previously in-person comic con style events, such as 2020's virtual New York and San Diego Comic Con, along with a whole host of other conventions.
It will be interesting to see exactly what exclusives Funko announces to kick off the new year. Brian Mariotti, Chief Executive Officer at Funko, noted that “Funko is always discovering new ways to surprise and delight our fans by bringing the best of pop culture directly to them. Funko Fair is all about virtually showcasing the newest products that our incredible creative team has been working on for the past several months."
According to Funko, the following licensors have confirmed their participation: Warner Bros, DC, Pokémon, NBCUniversal, Five Nights at Freddy’s, Disney, Marvel and Star Wars. Additionally, there will be days dedicated just to the latter few licenses, as well as new Loungefly product announcements.
"The Fair kicks off the morning of January 19th with a new episode of FUN TV, a monthly short form production co-hosted by Brian Mariotti and Mike Becker," notes the titular Funko blog.
You can stay up to date with the announcements online by following along with the official Funko accounts on their social media channels, and Ozzie will be showcasing some of the more exciting announcements, too.
What sort of upcoming releases are you hoping to see from Funko to kick off 2021?

Funko first starting rolling out the upcoming release news about five days ago on their social media. Now that we have everything in one place, check out what's on this year's NYCC release plate.

Here was the official announcement posted on the Funko blog as of March 19:
"WonderCon® Anaheim 2020 has been postponed. At this time no decision has been made regarding the rescheduling of WonderCon®. In an effort to keep the convention spirit alive we will be bringing you WonderCon® virtually with Funko's second virtual con! Funko's WonderCon® Anaheim | Funko Virtual Con will take place April 10-12."
One positive outcome from this decision is the news that small, independent retailers, such as Ozzie Collectables, will be able to bring these exclusives to our customers as well!
The virtual con will be happening on dpltoys.com.au on Saturday April 11 at 9:00 AM AEST.
