1. Displaying without the box
One of the most obvious reasons to take your Funko Pops out of the box is to display them without the packaging. Many collectors prefer to showcase their figures out of the box to show off the intricate details and designs.
2. Freedom of movement
Another advantage of taking your Funko Pops out of the box is the freedom of movement. You can pose your figures in different positions or switch them out with other figures to create unique displays.
3. Personal preference
Ultimately, whether or not to take your Funko Pops out of the box is a matter of personal preference. If you prefer to display your figures without the packaging, then taking them out of the box is the way to go.
1. Preservation
Keeping your Funko Pops in the box can help preserve their condition. The packaging can protect the figure from dust, scratches, and other damage that can occur when handling the figure.
2. Resale value
If you're a collector who's interested in the potential resale value of your Funko Pops, keeping them in the box can help maintain their value. Collectors often pay a premium for figures that are still in the original packaging and in mint condition.
3. Packaging design
The packaging of a Funko Pop can be just as intricate and detailed as the figure itself. Keeping the figure in the box allows you to appreciate the packaging design as well.
So, should you take your Funko Pop Vinyl figures out of the box? Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference. If you prefer to display your figures without the packaging and don't mind the potential risk of damage, taking them out of the box is the way to go. However, if you value the preservation and potential resale value of your Funko Pops, keeping them in the box is a smart choice. Whatever you decide, make sure to handle your figures with care to ensure they stay in the best condition possible.
Do you keep your Pops in-box or out? Leave us a comment!
]]>One of the most important things you can do to keep a Funko Pop in mint condition is to handle it with care. Avoid touching the figure's face or paint job with your fingers, as this can leave smudges or scratches. When picking up a Funko Pop, hold it by the base or the sides to prevent any accidental damage.
2. Keep it in the box
Many collectors prefer to keep their Funko Pops in their original boxes to maintain their mint condition. If you decide to display your figures outside of the box, make sure to keep the box in a safe place to prevent any damage or discoloration.
3. Avoid direct sunlight
Direct sunlight can cause your Funko Pop's colours to fade or yellow over time. Keep your figures out of direct sunlight, and display them in a well-lit area instead.
4. Use protectors
Funko Pop protectors are a great way to keep your figures in mint condition. These clear plastic cases fit over the box, providing an extra layer of protection from dust, scratches, and other damage.
5. Store in a cool, dry place
Storing your Funko Pops in a cool, dry place is crucial for maintaining their condition. Avoid storing your figures in humid or damp areas, as this can cause mold or discoloration. Keep them in a temperature-controlled room or storage container to keep them in mint condition.
By following these five tips, you can keep your Funko Pops in mint condition for years to come. Remember to handle them with care, keep them in the box or use protectors, avoid direct sunlight, and store them in a cool, dry place. With a little extra attention, your Funko Pop collection will stay looking as good as new.

]]>One of the easiest ways to spot a fake Funko Pop is to look at the box it comes in. The box print should have high-quality printing with crisp, clear images and text. Check for any misspellings or blurry images, as these are common signs of a fake.

2. Look for the Funko logo
Every Funko Pop figure should have the Funko logo on the box, typically located on the bottom right-hand corner. Make sure the logo is printed clearly and matches the official logo found on the Funko website.
3. Check the paint job
One of the most common signs of a fake Funko Pop is a poor paint job. Look for any smudges, uneven lines, or colour bleeding, as these are all indications of a fake figure. That said, keep in mind that Funko figures are a mass-produced toy line, and so not all paint jobs are perfect. The difference between a real and fake paint job usually comes down to the details, so if you're unsure, check a few other versions of the same item either online or in-person.

4. Examine the details
Funko Pops are known for their attention to detail, so examine the figure closely to ensure it matches the character it's meant to represent. Check for accurate clothing, accessories, and other defining features.
5. Check the box
One of the easiest giveaways for most fakes is the box itself, and how it's been cut. Check the width of the boarder around the character image and the font used in the box art.

6. Beware of low prices
If a Funko Pop figure seems too good to be true, it probably is. Be wary of independent or anonymous sellers online offering low prices, as these are often a sign of counterfeit figures. An easy rule of thumb? If it seems to good to be true, it usually is.
7. Purchase from reputable sellers
To ensure you're getting a genuine Funko Pop, purchase from reputable sellers such as official retailers or trusted online stores. Avoid purchasing from unknown or unverified sources. Nudge nudge, cough cough. Just sayin'.
8. Check the stickers
Certain exclusive items feature box stickers which add to the item's rarity. Carefully examine the sticker for font, colour, finish, and wording to make sure it's legit.

9. Cross-reference online
There are tonnes of resources out there for collectors, such as Funko Fake Finder, where you can search, share, and upload images of known fakes.
By following these tips, we hope you'll be able to spot fake Funko Pops and avoid being scammed. With a little extra attention, you can build your collection with confidence and enjoy your Funko Pops for years to come.

]]>Read on to find out how you can identify which items in your collection have the best resell value or are considered 'rare'!
1. Stickers
It may seem like a no-brainer, but for a lot of really new collectors, it might not seem as obvious. Stickers are often a way of determining both rarity and retailer exclusive statuses for certain items. These stickers can be found on the front window of the box and vary in size and shape. For example, glow-in-the-dark items will feature a small, yellow sticker identifying it as such, DGL exclusives will feature a silver diamond sticker, Target exclusives will feature a red sticker, etc. Glow-in-the-dark, glitter, flocked, and chrome items, as well as overseas releases of 'US exclusives' (which tend to be produced in countries like Australia with a round silver 'special edition' sticker) are not typically considered rare just for featuring a sticker. Comic Con products, which are produced with a special convention sticker, tend to be rarer, as less are produced by Funko, as well as items with the classic blue and white 'Funko shop' sticker - especially those from 2017 and earlier.
Be on the lookout for stickers which specifically mention the rarity, as well as the year the product was released. For example, a sticker reading '2013 NYCC, 1 in 32' is considered more rare than a sticker reading '2020 SDCC' with no numeric rarity.
2. Vaulted
You can't always identify a vaulted item by sight alone. Especially in today's collectable community, where Funko can vault a product at the drop of a hat, it can be tricky to stay up to date with what's in stock and what's not. Here's where your social circle comes in handy. Following groups on social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit can open up conversations about which products have recently become vaulted, often before retailers themselves are aware. We also recommend checking the going rate for older, second-hand items within online markets like eBay and Pop Price Guide, AKA HobbyDB. Look for higher-than-retail prices, sudden spikes in popularity, or disappearing stock from online retailers like Ozzie Collectables. That way, if you happen to run into the product on the shelf, you'll know exactly which Pops are about to spike in value.
3. Special Releases
Not every exclusive is released for Comic Con. Right now, this is more true than ever, with special Funko release campaigns supporting social and global issues such as breast cancer, the 2020 Australian bushfires, Coronavirus, and more. A lot of the time, these releases aren't available to everyone, and only certain retailers will carry the products. These can be especially rare for your collection. Look out for words like 'limited' over 'exclusive', as well as special announcements from Funko themselves about partnering with certain retailers. You may have to get up early to make the drop if you want to avoid the dreaded flipper re-sale prices, but it can be worth it.
How do you identify rare items? Do you have many in your collection? Let us know in the comments below!
]]>
Most of the time, we can assume that items released for exclusive events with extremely limited availability will be most likely to go up in value; it doesn't take a psychic to figure out that a 1 in 50 rare Freddy Funko figure is going to be worth something in a couple of years, especially if there's a chance flippers will get their hands on one. But if you, like us, have been collecting for a while, then chances are you've seen an item soar in value that's taken you by surprise.
Maybe you picked up that common Disney princess Pop! at a bargain price from your local hobby shop, only to find out a few years later that people are selling it on eBay for ten times what you paid. Or maybe you keep up with all the latest on sites like Pop Price Guide/ HobbyDB or Ozzie Collectables and are better at determining which new releases will be popular enough to really take off once they're vaulted.
No matter where you're at in terms of collector knowledge, we're sure you'll find something to gawk at in our top 11 picks for the rarest and most expensive Funko figures of all time!
1. Mickey Mouse (Metallic)

With a rarity of 1 in 480 pieces, this silver variant of the famous mouse was released as part of Funko's Comic Con exclusives line-up back in 2011 for San Diego Comic Con. With an estimated value of $1,130, this is one mouse you'd definitely wanna keep safely in the house.
2. Superman (Metallic Chase)

Are you noticing a theme? Back before every second variant released by Funko was a metallic (and everybody and their uncle started flocking to stock up on these re-released moulds) a metallic chase variant could be much harder to find, especially in the wild. This DC Superman Pop! was released back in 2010, exclusive to Target, and featured a sought after bobble-head. Back then, you could expect to be out of pocket an average of $10 if you happened to stumble across one of these on the shelf at your local Target. The going rate these days? A whopping $3,700.
3. Stranger Things - Hopper (Gold)

Back in 2018, Stranger Things was all the rage. The hype extended all the way to Funko's Comic Con events. As part of their 2018 Fundays event, they released this shiny gold variant of Hopper, limited to only 40 pieces. As cool as it must have been for those lucky 40 die-hard Funatics and Comic Con attendees to get their hands on one of these, the going rate unfortunately skyrocketed for anyone else hoping to hunt one down near-immediately. These days, you'll be lucky to come across one for anything less than $4,110.
4. Freddy Funko as Chocula (Metallic)

Here come those metallics again! Any die-hard Funatic will tell you that Freddy is a well-loved mascot. Typically exclusive to Comic Con events or the Funko shop, this isn't the first time the brand has released a shiny new variant of their character for everybody to get their hands on, and this 2011 San Diego Comic Con exclusive has been extremely popular for such a limited release. This one sells for an estimated $5,000 on the market now. Just pocket change, right?
5. Boo Berry (Glow in the Dark Chase)

Do you have many Ad Icons Funko POP! figures in your collection? How about one that's worth $5,570?
6. Dumbo (Clown Paint)

Come one, come all, and feast your eyes on this 2013 San Diego Comic Con Pop! Vinyl limited to only 48 pieces world-wide. For a staggering $6,350, you too can add this Disney treasure to your collection!
7. Star Wars - Darth Maul (Holographic)

Back before there were a gazillion Star Wars Funko figures, this 1 in 480 exclusive glow variant of Darth Maul was a fresh and exciting new release for 2012's San Diego Comic Con. Back then, if you were lucky enough to attend, you could grab him at the typical going retail rate. These days? Be prepared to shell out somewhere around $7,000.
8. Stan Lee (Superhero) (Red Metallic)

When real-life hero Stan Lee passed away back in November of 2018, it was a dark day for Marvel fans everywhere. Since then, there have been a number of additional Stan Lee Pop! releases, most typically celebrating the beloved creator's cameos in his MCU films. But those who were lucky enough to get their hands on one of the original releases will surely be celebrating today, as they're only 1 of 12 people worldwide who can say they own this super rare Funko Pop Vinyl figure. Released in October 2017, this red metallic variant is currently worth around $8,000.
9. Freddy Funko as Count Chocula (Glow in the Dark)

If you thought the metallic variant was expensive, you haven't met the glow chase yet! Released for San Diego Comic Con in 2011, this 1 in 12 rare glow in the dark chase variant of Freddy Funko dressed as the vampiric cereal mascot Count Chocula is typically regarded as the third rare and most expensive Funko Pop Vinyl of all time. The price? A cool $10,000.
10. Game of Thrones - Freddy Funko as Jaime Lannister (Bloody)

If you were part of the pop culture world back in circa 2012, there's a low chance you escaped without catching at least a little Game of Thrones fever. The TV show is still widely regarded as one of the most popular of all time, and it certainly boasts a collectibles range to prove it. Following a trend you'll notice for the vast majority of ultra rare Funko figures, there were none quite as popular as this 2013 exclusive Pop! showcasing mascot Freddy Funko yet again dressed as a popular character. This blood-spattered bobble-head can be yours for an average of just $11,680.
11. Clockwork Orange (Glow in the Dark Chase)

A few years ago, when Funko announced they'd be re-releasing a new line of Clockwork Orange Pop! Vinyl figures, panic among collectors was imminent. Luckily, these new figures were different from the original releases, which was good, because it doesn't affect the original items' rarity; some collectors have paid big bucks for these! Widely regarded as the rarest and most expensive Funko figure ever, this limited edition glow in the dark chase is worth an estimated $13,300.

When we're not meticulously tending to our own collections, we're scrutinising others' online. When we're not spending all of our money on Comic Con exclusives, we're drafting a wish-list. When we're not debating with others for their particular choice of collection display - be that in or out of box - we are ever-so-merrily demonstrating the paradigm of do as I say, not as I do. We love, hate, criticise, praise, live, breathe, and love collectables. When you've got a community as positively loopy - and fantastic - as us, you tend to see some interesting characters.
We've compiled a list of what we believe to be five common types of collectors: from the drill sergeant to the artist to the hippie geek, check out our picks for the five major personalities of collectors and tell us in the comments which one resembles you most!
Plus, read until the end of our article to find out how you can win this month's giveaway, where we'll be picking one lucky winner to take home a mystery CHASE Pop! Vinyl!
1. The Drill Sergeant
Possibly the most common type to come across in line at 6 am for an exclusive, the drill sergeant is known for taking every part of collecting seriously. They are a strictly in-box, shelf sectioning, weekly dusting and mint condition collector. This collector is most likely to hold up the line at Target by agonisingly scrutinising every last inch of a Pop Vinyl box to ensure there are no damages, and the most likely to drive an hour out of their way to return a product with a scuff on the window. This collector spends all their money on Pop Protectors of the highest calibre. Their most prized possessions are well out of the reach of any potential children, pets, or worse - out-of-box collectors. Hold your shudders, Drill Sergeant, because you're also the most likely to have a high-valued collection on Pop Price Guide!

2. The Artist
The Artist is the creative one. Customs, fanart, and elaborate displays make up some of their distinguishing features, as well as a tendency to leave arts-and-crafts-related messes everywhere. You know the one: paint perpetually smudged on their fingers, a gazillion forgotten pieces of vinyl doll parts lying around, and an impressive Instagram grid of DIY projects, works in progress, and stellar artistic feats. This collector is the most likely to drool over Funko's DIY line, as well as dip their toe into some non-Pop related lines. Their shelves are colourful, stylish, and out-of-box, with plenty of non-Funko items to fill up space and add visual diversity.

3. The Hippie Geek
If you're not this person, then you've definitely come across them in some comment forum or other: nothing seems to bother the Hippie Geek. To them, the collectibles community is all about love, fun, and family. Every new line announced by Funko is a reason for celebration. Every re-release of a same-old mould with a new paint variation is cause for delight. Their collection is mainly made up of their favourite characters, with a few older items that each hold special meaning. This person is most likely to have met their friends or spouse through the Funatic community or at some kind of convention. Their closet is full of fandom themed clothing and they plan yearly trips to pop culture related locations. Whilst certainly the most happy-go-lucky of the bunch, beware: this collector is also the most likely to "accidentally" stumble across that exclusive you've been searching far and wide for, only to gift it to their eight-year-old nephew and watch it brutally torn from its box with a laid back smile on their face. There's easy going, and then there's downright chilling!

4. The Die-Hard
This is the collector most likely to comment on every single one of Funko's posts. They have an opinion about everything. Facebook has gifted them with a Top Fan badge on nearly every collectables page, and they are subscribed to every newsletter known to man. This collector is most likely to jump in their car and drive upwards of four hours out of their way just to get their hands on a new exclusive. They're entered into every lottery, giveaway, and promotion possible. Half their home is specifically Funko branded goodies, and the other half is fandom decor. This person probably runs an unboxing style YouTube channel, and receives at least one package in the mail per week with some new collectables or merchandise. Voted most likely to name their child or pet after their favourite character, most likely to attend Fundays multiple years in a row, and most likely to be featured on Funatic of the Week.

5. The Flounder
If you're worried that this is you, fear not: this is the most common type of collector by far! The Flounder knows what they're doing... sometimes. They've read some articles, followed a few pages promising to teach them the ways of a seasoned collector, and scour the depths of social media from time to time to see what's new. But honestly, it can all be quite daunting! The Flounder knows what it's like to sometimes feel like they have no idea what they're doing, and that's perfectly okay. They know what a Chase is, but are still trying to wrap their head around Vaulted items. They probably couldn't pick a fake out of a lineup, they struggle to figure out which stickers raise a Pop in value, and they never understand the big deal when people make fun of Dorbz and other lines - honestly, they're kind of cute figures!

So, which of these collectors sounds most like you?
