The Yan, the humans native to the Empire's central provinces, greatly outnumber the hemicyons, typically at a five to one ratio, if not higher. Humans are responsible for all the logistics of maintaining the hordes, carrying out transport and supply roles. This is not to say that they are excluded from acting as soldiers, and any Yan who has been recruited into a horde will have some capability with arms. In combat, they will typically assemble in large blocks to secure the army's flanks, and sometimes, bands of warrior monks assemble to fight alongside their brothers.
A more specialized corps of Yan is also seen, warriors who employ sharpened discs of fire-hardened bamboo. These 'chakrams', as the weapons are called, can be thrown a considerable distance and with disturbing accuracy. In close quarters, they are employed as both blade and shield by these fighters with equal felicity.
This versatile hard plastic kit builds three different units for the Xirkaali Empire:
